North West London artist Tiana Major9 has yet to even release a debut album but has already been nominated for a Grammy for her standout single Collide, (which featured in the Queen & Slim Soundtrack) and made her US TV debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show (followed by a string of big TV performances including The 2019 BRIT Awards, The BET Awards, The Soul Train Awards, Billboard Awards, last year’s MOBO awards (where she received 3 nominations including Best Newcomer) and most recently The Late Night Show With James Cordon show).
Her sound has been described as a mix between Amy Winehouse, Lauren Hill and Janelle Monae, with Jazz being at the epicentre of all her music – she gave herself the name Major9 after the major 9th – a chord highly favoured in jazz. Her contemporary approach to R&B have not only led her to be signed by one of the Americans more iconic labels, Motown Records (home to Marvin Gaye, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and a plethora of other soul legends) but also saw her enlisted by Stormzy to feature on his platinum selling #1 album ‘Heavy Is The Head’.
